Quick update. I removed the battery from my fob, put battery from wife's fob in mine, works! Changed batteries back, works again! So I guess the battery must have dislodged itself in my fob slightly. Still confused why the fob allowed me to lock the car but not unlock it. Anyway, problem solved. This sub is dedicated to Volkswagen Passat enthusiasts, owners, mechanics, experts, and newbies! My B6 2005 Passat's drivers door won't unlock. The drivers side door won't unlock with the key fob or button inside, only solution is to open it from the inside, then the outside handle works just fine but if I lock it I have to open it Recommended video Use spare key: You can try starting your Passat with its second key. It will also rule out any other problem with the first key, for example, water damage. How long does the key fob battery last? This is a common problem with this Volkswagen Poor battery connection The battery inside the key fob of Passat has metal retaining clips that hold the battery in position and completes the circuit. If the clips don't have any tension, it can cause contact issues and the remote may not receive any power. Make sure the battery is firmly placed and does not move around when you shake the remote. You can usually get away with putting the key in the ignition, turning the ignition on (not starting) then bashing the lock/unlock buttons a few times. However I don't know how you go about Driver's door won't lock. I can lock the doors with the key fob but it does not beep. The alarm sets, and the passenger doors all lock, but the drivers door does not. I have checked that all doors are closing properly, and the transmission is in park. I also tried both key fobs with the same result. In this video, I'll show you how you can open the key fob and change battery or clean the battery connectors to make it work! This morning I had an issue with my car key not opening the door Just replaced the battery in my key fob. I got into my car with the normal key, put the fob in the ignition and now it won't come out. Evidently I need to reprogram, but how can I get the key fob out? Update (10/20/2017): I realized my car battery was the issue. It was flatlined. Left headlight - 2006-2015 Volkswagen Passat APBQffi.
